1. Wrinkle Treatment: Everything you need to know

2. Recognize different Types of Wrinkles
There are quite different types of wrinkles, which we would like to briefly introduce to you here:
- Dynamic wrinkles (expression lines, worry lines, frown lines, crow’s feet)
- Static wrinkles (marionette lines and nasolabial folds)
Dynamic Wrinkles (expression lines)
Dynamic wrinkles on the face are caused by muscles tension, i.e. facial expressions. Expression lines often form on the forehead. The horizontal forehead wrinkles are also called worry lines. The vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, also known as frown lines, are also caused by muscle contractions. In addition, radial wrinkles around the eyes, known as crow’s feet, can be exacerbated by squinting the eyes, laughing or frequent blinking.
If the facial mimic muscles are often tensed over a long period of time, the mentioned wrinkles can become visible at an early stage. Over time, this allows them to burrow deeper and deeper into the tissue. This can then make you look tired, worried or even angry. You should not wait for your wrinkle development to progress.
Static Wrinkles
With the help of our anti-aging treatments, both minor wrinkles and deep lines can be smoothed out, giving you a youthful, fresh look. Dynamic wrinkles are not the only type of wrinkles that occur as part of aging. Nasolabial folds and marionette lines, also known as static wrinkles, have other causes. These wrinkles are caused by the gravitational force. Gravity pulls down the soft tissue, i.e. skin, muscles and fat pads. Thus, there is an increasing loss of skin elasticity and sagging of soft tissue in the face, which leads to wrinkling in above-mentioned regions. This type of wrinkles can also be corrected.

3. What are Neuromodulators?
The electrical impulses from the nerves are transmitted to the muscles via a messenger substance, resulting in muscle contraction. Neuromodulators, also called “BTX”, interfere with this biochemical process and temporarily inhibit signal transmission. This causes the facial muscles to relax. The result is smooth and relaxed skin.
BTX has been used for medical and cosmetic purposes for decades and has a long and safe track record.
4. Removing Wrinkles and inserting Neuromodulators.
Wrinkle treatment with neuromodulators is most effective for the following facial wrinkles:
- Vertical frown lines between eyebrows
- Radial crow’s feet on the outer edge of the eyes
- Horizontal worry lines on the forehead
- Diagonal wrinkles on the flanks of the nose (so-called “bunny lines”)
- Horizontal wrinkle at the base of the nose
5. Wrinkle Treatment with Fillers
If the mimic muscles are not responsible for the wrinkles, but rather a loss or shift in volume, fillers will work better than neuromodulators. Neuromodulators relax muscles but cannot replace volume. If volume needs to be replaced in the course of wrinkle removal, fillers are the right choice. Basically, there are two types of fillers available for wrinkle treatments:
- Hyaluronic acid
- Autologous fat
Wrinkle Treatment with Hyaluronic Acid
Dr. Thorsten Sattler offers you only premium fillers so that signs of aging due to volume loss can be treated safely and for a long period of time. During wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid, hyaluronic acid deposits are inserted under the wrinkles to be treated. Thus, the injected hyaluronic acid supplements the body’s own hyaluronic acid supply. This raises the skin surface in the treated area and makes the facial contour more even.
Hyaluronic acid can also be used to treat scarring, enlarge lips and build up cheekbones. A receding chin or an unsteady nose silhouette can also be optimized. The results are easily controllable and depend on the type and amount of hyaluronic acid. Volume filling of the face results in a fresher and more youthful appearance.
Wrinkle Treatment by Autologous Fat Transfer
If permanent treatment results are desired or if nature-identical substances are to be avoided, autologous fat transfer is an option. Autologous fat transfer is done under local anesthesia and requires a bit more planning as it is a minor surgical procedure.
Body fat is suctioned from a suitable area such as the abdomen or cheeks with more facial fat. Usually 20 to 30 milliliters are enough. The fat is then processed and inserted into the face in a controlled manner using special syringes. The result is very natural and long lasting.
A special form of autologous fat transfer is “nanofat grafting”. The autologous fat is specially prepared after removal from the body. After the preparation, the stem cells extracted from the fat are injected into the deeper layers of the skin to rejuvenate the skin. The focus is therefore less on gaining volume and more on improving the skin’s structure through the body’s own stem cells and growth factors. Acne, scars and skin complexion can be improved, resulting in a fresh glow of the skin. If no surgical intervention is desired, this effect can also be achieved by a very thin hyaluronic acid, which will be injected in the upper layers of the skin.
Filler, autologous fat and nanofat treatments can of course be combined with neuromodulators to achieve the best possible results. This is possible during a single treatment appointment.
6. The Procedure of your Wrinkle Treatment in Hamburg
The injection of BTX does not require anesthesia, however, if desired, a local anesthetic cream will be applied to the skin prior to treatment. BTX is like water in consistency and is injected through a very fine needle. Most patients perceive the treatment as completely unproblematic. The injection only takes a few minutes. If you decide to have wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid, the treatment may take slightly longer. Hyaluronic acid is more viscous than BTX, so a slightly thicker needle is used. A local anesthetic is added to the filler, so this treatment is also very well tolerated.
Injections with autologous fat or nanofat must be planned with a little more advance notice, but can also be performed under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis. 8. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Wrinkle Treatments
After your treatment, you can resume your daily activities immediately. Treatment is even possible during your lunch break or right after work. In individual cases, small bruises or slight swelling and redness may occur. These side effects are harmless and can usually be covered by makeup immediately after the treatment.
Since your wrinkles begin to smooth out immediately after the hyaluronic acid treatment, you can see the first results shortly after your injections. The filler will be fully integrated after about two weeks. The effect of BTX, on the other hand, sets in only after a few days. Thus, wrinkle injections with hyaluronic acid are visible immediately after treatment, whereas neuromodulators take several days to take effect.
After your treatment, you will notice fewer wrinkles on your face while maintaining a natural facial expression. The goal is a fresh, refreshed look, as if you just arrived from a vacation.
Treatment with muscle relaxing preparations is a temporary solution to smooth wrinkles. Despite using premium products, the results of your treatment will diminish over time.
